UYOLE MP Dr. Tulia Ackson, has launched food aid distribution exercise targeting over 50 households with special needs to ensure they celebrate the upcoming Christmas and New Year festivities.
The initiative, which kicked off this week, involves a series of visits to various wards across the constituency. Dr. Tulia stated that the goal of the outreach is to reach 130 vulnerable households across all 13 wards of Uyole.
Speaking during the distribution, Dr. Tulia emphasised that the programme aims to ensure no family is left behind during the holiday season.
“We want these people to enjoy the festive season just like everyone else,” Dr. Tulia said. “For me, this assistance is a form of charity to families in need, but the bigger goal is to reach all 130 households across every ward in our constituency.”
The beneficiaries were identified through a collaborative effort between Mbeya City, local government leaders and the Tulia Trust Foundation to ensure the aid reaches those in the most precarious living conditions.
Dr. Tulia further noted that this festive support is part of her long-term commitment to social welfare. She highlighted previous projects where she facilitated the construction of modern housing for disadvantaged families within and outside the Mbeya Region to provide permanent improvements to their living standards.
Local government officials have welcomed the intervention, citing the high level of need in the area. Lugano Mwangosi, the chairperson of Itezi Mlimani sub-ward, confirmed that two households in his jurisdiction had already received the donation.
