On February 24, 2024, Dr. Tulia Ackson, President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and Speaker of Parliament, distributed 1,000 free insurance cards to 6,000 individuals in needy households in Mbeya.
This initiative, part of her fifth phase of aiding the vulnerable, aims to ensure access to healthcare. Dr. Dotto Biteko, Deputy Minister of Energy, graced the occasion as the guest of honor, alongside government officials.
Dr. Tulia highlighted the importance of sustainable healthcare access, supported by President Samia Suluhu Hassan's investments. She emphasized the improved infrastructure of the regional hospital, enabling local treatment instead of referrals. Dr. Biteko echoed the call for better services for the elderly nationwide.
